SWITCH: A Change Management Workshop

Saturday, February 9, 2019 | 2:15 p.m. – 5:30 p.m.

Why is change so hard? The primary obstacle is a conflict that’s built into our brains, say Chip and Dan Heath, authors of the critically acclaimed bestseller SWITCH. Research shows that our minds are ruled by two different systems — the rational mind and the emotional mind — that compete for control. The rational mind wants a great beach body; the emotional mind wants that Oreo cookie. The rational mind wants to change something in the chapter; the emotional mind loves the comfort of the “we’ve always done it this way”. This tension can doom a change effort — but if it is overcome, change can come quickly.

Join us at #AFLVCentral for SWITCH, to learn the following:

  • Why some changes are excruciating, and others are easy.
  • Why most organizational changes never really get the momentum they need.
  • How to break through the "decision paralysis" that can doom a change effort.
  • How to spot and clone the “bright spots” that can point the way forward; why knowledge is not enough to spark change - and what WILL spark it.
  • How tweaking the environment in minor ways can trigger big changes in behavior.

By the end of this workshop, you’ll be able to tackle a major change challenge of your choice!

Participation Guidelines:

  • Participation is limited to 250.
  • It is recommended that interested delegations commit 4-8 students to the workshop.
  • Campus-based fraternity & sorority professionals are strongly encouraged to participate with students from their delegation.

Facilitated by: Susan Heath Hays | Cost Per Participant: $25
