Opening Session

  • Eyes on the Horizon, Blaine Ayers
    What is ahead for those who live and work in the Greek world? In this session, insight will be given on the NIC’s new Health and Safety guidelines, the challenging climate at some of our host institutions, the work from the Anti-Hazing Coalition, and the developments from our Government Relations team. You will get inside information on the near future of the fraternity/sorority environment from someone who has been in the trenches for almost 15 years.

  • Wasn’t This Easier: 25 Concerns, Worries, & What “Should I Be Thinking About ___?”, David Westol
    Yes, it used to be easier. Things continue to become more complicated for house directors, don’t they? While the role of a house director remains important for many reasons, the duties and responsibilities have expanded exponentially. Let’s see if we can uncomplicate things. We’ll review 25 areas of concern ranging from vaping to comfort animals to Title IX to “Other duties as assigned.” We’ll also discuss your contract or agreement so expectations are clear and unambiguous. This session will be interactive and will include case studies for team evaluation. Bring your questions!

    How do you create an environment where your letters can come to life inside the chapter house? This all starts with an effectively managed facility. In this session, we’ll discuss the top tips, tricks, strategies, and tactics for effectively managing the facility. Bring your ideas, pen, and paper and prepare to contribute. We’ll be teaching, learning, and sharing with each other during this best practices-focused session.

  • Recruiting, Retaining, & Engaging Generation Z, Colleen Coffey Melchiorre
    Recruitment and membership engagement for the modern college student is changing. The way in which we interact with students has so much to do with how they trust us, interact with their organization, and how safe they feel. In this program, you will learn about generational trends in fraternal recruitment and membership experience. Participants will have the opportunity to practice communication and deliberate listening and conversation so they can best interact with the changing needs of students.

    What if our primary objective was to provide our members with a world class customer experience? How would that fundamentally change the way we look at students and the way we go about our daily jobs? In this session, we will define the customer experience, explore brands that have generated a fierce and loyal following, and discuss the myriad ways we can incorporate similar behaviors, tactics, and strategies as we support the experience unfolding within the walls of our chapter houses.
