About Fraternal Values Society

Here at AFLV, we've utilized our time to evaluate our Fraternal Values Society program and think about the best way to support our student leaders. Below are a few things we've learned based on conversations with student leaders and various campus advisors:

  • The Fraternal Values Society experience varies greatly from campus to campus.
  • Starting an FVS chapter is a big job, often with obstacles.
  • People want to make positive change on campus, but don't know where to start.
  • Our Greek communities are more alike than they are different, yet each campus has unique qualities.

With these things in mind, AFLV has come to rethink our FVS program. We intend to create a more dynamic educational offering that empowers individuals, not only chapters, to enact the change their community needs. What you need to know:

  • You can absolutely still run your FVS chapter. You will just receive programming in a different way from AFLV.
  • AFLV will not be chartering new chapters of FVS, only maintaining those that wish to stay open.
  • AFLV will be working towards building a community of individuals from across the country to engage in conversations that leads to accelerating progress in the fraternity/sorority experience.
  • AFLV will provide resources driven by the needs of students.

This new exciting program will be called The Source and it will have two main aspects:

  • First, we'll invite fraternity/sorority leaders to a student-only Facebook community focused on content and topics driven by AFLV, but the page will also allow for student driven discussions around the things that matter most to them.
  • Second, in addition to the Facebook community, students will receive access to an ongoing catalogue of online resources to help address the issues we hear most from student leaders like you. The Source members will benefit from these resources and, at the same time, contribute to the overall community.

We're asking for your support to take part in this new project that AFLV will be taking on. Much like the changes you've made on campus, we know this is only possible if a group of people come together ready to make change. We need your help, feedback, and ideas to make The Source the go-to resource for fraternity/sorority leaders across the country!
