Advisor Resources - AFLV West

Thank you for joining us at #AFLVWest! We are looking forward to a great conference filled with inclusive programming and collaboration between campus administrators, national organizations, and students to address issues like risk management, recruitment, intra-council relationships, and liability issues. Please see below for all the resources you'll need as an advisor.

Arrival & Registration

If you arriving by bus, please fill out our charter bus travel form to ensure a smooth arrival and departure for your delegation. Need parking for your bus? Please check out our travel page for parking rates.

When you arrive, check in with the hotel first, and then come to #AFLVWest registration. As an advisor, you may check your entire delegation into the hotel.

About the Hotel & Room Block

For the safety and security of your students, please contact the hotel directly to put the names of the student's staying at the hotel on the reservations. This also will ensure a quicker check-in process.

Any room cancellations must be made 72 hours prior to arrival. If rooms are not cancelled in this time frame, you will be charged for the room.

Conference Prep

Before attending #AFLVWest, please review the Standards Policy & Process with your students. Also, we recommend utilizing our Delegation Check List to make sure your students are up to speed.

In addition to the Delegation Check List, we've also provided a sample Delegate Participation Agreement to ensure your students uphold the standards and policies of not only #AFLVWest but your institution as well.

If your students need an advisor letter to their professors, we've provided a sample letter you can use.

Professionals' Programming

We are excited to continue offering great opportunities for advisors to recharge, connect, and engage. In addition to a “For Professionals” session in each educational block, we offer breakout opportunities. Check out the sessions and opportunities in the Guidebook app (coming soon) or take a look at the digital version of the program book (also coming soon).

Professionals' Institute: Solving Problems By Addressing Needs

Friday, April 6 | 2:20 - 5:30 p.m.

Presented by: Noah Borton, Senior Director of Educational Programs, Delta Upsilon Fraternity

This session will help participants to clarify several key aspects of their work. First, what exactly is the problem we are trying to solve? Then, within the context of solving this problem, we will explore the difference between interventions designed around the needs of the professional versus interventions designed around the needs of the student. This will require a clear understanding the needs and motivations of all involved. Ultimately, the goal will be to equip participants to more effectively construct initiatives within their work which are designed to make a measurable impact in behavior change rather than to serve as a symbolic action.

Note: pre-registration is required for this free program.
