Conference Internships

Becoming an AFLV Conference Intern 

AFLV selects 30 undergraduate and graduate student interns to serve at both AFLV Central and AFLV West. Our interns provide on-site support to the professional staff members and volunteers who implement each event, specifically in the following ways: 

  • Introducing speakers and make announcements to all conference attendees.
  • Posting and removing signage.
  • Serve on Conference Standards Staff (Graduate students only), which includes late-night "rounds".
  • Preparing conference registration packets and working on-site check-in.
  • Supporting the logistics associated with banquets and meals.
  • Setting up and tearing down audio-visual equipment.
  • Assisting with special events, silent auction, awards, bookstore, and exhibitors.
  • Greeting and directing conference attendees.
  • Providing exemplary customer service to all attendees: students, professionals, exhibitors, presenters, and inter/national fraternity/sorority representatives.
  • Serving on 2018 conference speaker review committee (select interns)

Training and Departure 

AFLV Central
Intern training will begin Tuesday, January 31, 2017, at 2:00 p.m. Individuals selected for staff must attend this training. Interns may depart Sunday, February 5, 2017, after 2:00 p.m.



Intern training will begin Wednesday, April 5, 2017, at 11:45 a.m. Individuals selected for staff must attend this training. All staff members may depart Sunday, April 9, 2017, after 2:00 p.m.


Additional Benefits & Compensation 

The benefits of serving as a conference intern include: 

  • Interacting with national officers, inter/national headquarters staff, and campus based professionals.
  • Learning about conference planning, management, and execution.
  • Connecting with other fraternity/sorority leaders.

In addition to those benefits, AFLV will cover your registration fee and the cost of your shared hotel room while you are on-site for training as well as during the conference. In addition, all meals from the night of your arrival through Sunday afternoon, with the exception of Friday’s dinner, are paid for by the Association. Travel to and from the conference are the responsibility of the Intern.



Individuals selected as conference interns will be expected to behave in a professional manner, as they are chosen to represent AFLV. Any behavior deemed inappropriate may result in the termination of the Intern with all encumbered expenses needing to be repaid to AFLV.


Application & Selection

Twenty interns will be selected for AFLV Central, and ten interns will be selected for AFLV West with preference given to:

  • Undergraduate students who are currently active in a leadership role within their fraternity/sorority community and are enrolled as a full-time undergraduate student.
  • Graduate Students with previous fraternity/sorority experience who are enrolled in a graduate program in any field of study.
