AFLV Expands Board of Directors
FORT COLLINS, CO - AFLV is excited to announce the expansion of the AFLV Board Of Directors. “We are incredibly lucky to have Dhanfu and Jeremiah join our Board of Directors. The experience and perspectives they bring will challenge us to be a better, more forward-thinking organization," said Ryan O’Rourke, Executive Director. Please join us in welcoming Dhanfu Elston and Jeremiah Shinn to our leadership team.
Dhanfu Elston, Ph.D., Complete College America
Dr. Dhanfu E. Elston serves as the Complete College America (CCA) Vice President for Alliance State Relations where he utilizes his campus expertise for practical application, implementation, and scaling of student success strategies at institutions throughout the nation. Additionally, he coordinates relationships with Governor’s Offices and higher education state-wide systems in their college completion efforts and provides oversight of CCA’s 15-To-Finish strategy. Elston has been recognized as an expert in college completion policy initiatives at institutions that educate highly diverse and underrepresented student populations.
Dr. Elston earned a Ph.D. in Educational Policy Studies from Georgia State University, and he earned both an M.A. in Educational Leadership and B.S. in Biology from Clark Atlanta University.
Elston is a member of and has held leadership roles in numerous professional associations, including NASPA – Student Affairs Administrators in Higher Education (current Chairperson of the African American Knowledge Community), National Academic Advising Association, LeaderShape, Inc., American Educational Research Association, Golden Key International Honour Society, Omicron Delta Kappa National Leadership Honor Society. He is a proud Life Member of Alpha Phi Alpha Fraternity, Inc.
Jeremiah Shinn, Ph.D., Boise State University
Jeremiah Shinn serves as the Associate Vice President for Student Life at Boise State University, where he provides support and leadership for seven student affairs units and their 400+ professional, classified, graduate and student staff members. Prior to his time in Boise, he served in various capacities at both Eastern Michigan University and Indiana University. A graduate of Arkansas Tech University, the University of Michigan and Eastern Michigan University, Jeremiah holds a B.S. in Natural Science, an M.A. in Higher Education and a Ph.D. in Educational Leadership.
He has served in a number of roles dedicated to improving the college student experience through fraternities and sororities, including the Association of Fraternity/Sorority Advisors (AFA) Board, AFA President, Board Member for the Center for the Study of the College Fraternity (CSCF), the Delta Upsilon President’s Task Force, NASPA Region IV-E Fraternity/Sorority Knowledge Community Chair, Interfraternity Institute (IFI) Associate Director and Co-Director and as a facilitator for AFLV’s The Gathering.
