In early June, the Association of Fraternal Leadership & Values held our annual summer board meeting in Indianapolis, Indiana and we’re happy to report that there are many new, exciting things that our members should look forward to this year.
In that spirit, we are excited to announce the appointment of Mike Hayes and Tom Jelke as the newest members of the AFLV Board of Directors, joining our already stellar leadership team.
A proud member of Pi Kappa Alpha, Mike Hayes currently serves as the Executive Director of Campus Life at Washington University in St. Louis, where he leads a student-focused campus life operation that includes Greek Life, Student Organizations, Student Media, Leadership Development, and Social Justice programming. Prior to this role, Mike served in student affairs positions for over 20 years at several institutions, including the University of Maryland-College Park, Cornell University, DePauw University, Miami (OH) University, and Westminster College. He is a past-President of the Association of Fraternity/Sorority Advisors and winner of their Robert L. Shaffer Award, presented to an individual in the field of higher education who has demonstrated a long-term commitment to fraternities and sororities. Mike also currently serves on the North-American Interfraternity Conference Commission on Hazing Awareness and Prevention.
Thomas B. (Tom) Jelke, Ph.D.
Tom Jelke, Ph.D. is the President/CEO of T.Jelke Solutions, a consulting firm specializing in independent research, training, assessment and evaluation, leadership programming, and strategic planning for Colleges and Universities, Fraternal Organizations, and Non-Profits. In addition to earning his Ph.D. in Higher Education with a minor in Law from Indiana University-Bloomington, Tom has over 24 years of experience working with college students. He has worked for his fraternity’s national headquarters, Sigma Phi Epsilon and in Greek Life at Florida State University and Indiana University-Bloomington. Ryan O’Rourke, Assistant Executive Director, shared, “Mike and Tom joining our Board is exciting to us for many reasons, primarily because we know that our members will have an even better AFLV experience as a result of their leadership and guidance. Their appointment signals one of many positive things to come in the near future!”
