Internships
AFLV will be selecting Interns for the AFLV West and National Cultural Greek Leadership Conference to provide onsite support to those professional staff members and volunteers who implement each conference.
SELECTION:
Ten (10) student staff members will be selected, with preference given to those:
Undergraduates: who are currently active in a leadership role within their fraternity/sorority community, and must be enrolled as a full-time undergraduate student.
Graduate Students: who are planning a career in student affairs, especially working in the fraternity/sorority advising profession, and must be enrolled in a graduate program in any field of study.
TRAINING AND DEPARTURE:
Staff training will begin Tuesday, April 6, 2010 at 3:00 PM. Individuals selected for staff must attend this training. All staff members may depart Sunday, April 11, 2010, after 2:00 PM. Please note that Interns will miss up to four days of class.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
The conference intern responsibilities may include, but are not limited to:
- Introducing speakers and make announcements to all conference attendees
- Posting & removing signage
- Serve on Standards Board (Grad Only)
- Facilitating roundtable discussions
- Working conference registration
- Assisting with banquets and meals
- Assisting the audio-visual department
- Assisting with special events, silent auction, awards, and exhibitors
- Providing exemplary customer service to all attendees: students, professionals, exhibitors, presenters, and Inter/national representatives

The benefits of serving as a conference staff member include:
- Meeting/escorting VIPs
- Interacting with national officers/staff and campus based professionals
- Learning about conference planning & management
- Connecting with other fraternity/sorority leaders
COMPENSATION:
AFLV will cover your registration fee and the cost of your shared hotel room while you are on-site for training as well as during the conference. In addition, all meals from Tuesday night thru Sunday afternoon, with the exception of Friday’s dinner, are paid for by the Association. Travel to and from the conference are the responsibility of the Intern.
CONDUCT:
Individuals selected as Conference Interns will be expected to behave in a professional manner, as they are chosen to represent the Association. Any behavior deemed inappropriate may result in the termination of the Intern with all accumulated expenses repaid to AFLV.
RECOMMENDATION AND RESUME:
A letter of recommendation from your supervisor (graduate applicants) or University Official (undergraduate applicants – fraternity/sorority advisor preferred) and a copy of your resume must be included with your application.
