Standards Policy
We have high expectations of appropriate behavior at the conference to ensure that the individual attendees, faculty, and the Association of Fraternal Leadership & Values (AFLV) continue to maintain a reputation for excellence and high standards. In an effort to minimize hotel security involvement, behavior standards will be monitored and enforced by the AFLV Standards Committee. While the Council's Head Delegate is responsible for the conduct of the members of his or her delegation, it is expected that each conference participant will read, understand, and follow conference behavior rules as well as appropriate federal, state and local laws. However, the Head Delegate and/or the individual will be held accountable for actions of misconduct.
In all situations involving underage drinking or fake IDs, the individuals will be sent home and the following people will be notified: the university advisor, the chief student affairs administrator, and the appropriate national/international officers.
There will be no alcohol allowed in the guests'rooms, whether purchased from the conference hotel or outside of the hotel. The conference hotel prohibits any guest from bringing alcohol into his or her room. It is vital that all delegates understand and comply with this request. If alcohol is found in a registrant's room all participants in that room will be required to leave the conference immediately. The AFLV Standards Committee and the conference hotel staff will cooperate regarding potential problems.
The first incidence of damages will necessitate that individuals are sent home, the university advisor, chief student affairs administrator, university judicial officer, and the national/international officers are notified. Additionally, as occupants of a hotel room are legally responsible, damages to rooms will be billed to the individuals registered to that room.
If a noise complaint is received regarding a room, the Standards Committee will usually take the following steps:
- First Incident: Disperse any individuals not registered in the room and notify the University Advisor.
- Second Incident: Send individuals home, notify university advisor and head delegate to the AFLV conference, chief student affairs administrator, and national/international officers.
AFLV can be held responsible for any damages to public areas of the hotel. In the past, damages have been minimal; however, if damages occur, AFLV fees may need to be increased to pay for such damages to the hotel. Please help to keep costs manageable by acting responsibly.
AFLV, its participants, and faculty have excellent reputations. With everyone's cooperation and assistance, we believe we can present Greek communities and their members in a positive light and continue to be welcome at our conference hotel partners.
