The 2009 applications (awards to be presented at the 2010 AFLV Central & AFLV West Annual Leadership Conferences) will be available for general distribution by August 1, 2009.

Philosophy of the AFLV Awards & Assessment Program

The AFLV Awards & Assessment program is designed specifically to assist councils in achieving the highest level of excellence possible in their programming and council management. The documents outline the actions and policies of an ideal council. As such, if councils utilize the program for goal setting and as a guide for action and visionary accomplishment, they will be well on the road to achieving excellence.

The process of preparing an award application in and of itself will assist the council in evaluating its programs and services. The submission of an application gives the council an opportunity to have its programs evaluated by outside experts who will provide written and verbal feedback.

Eligibility & Instructions

In order to be eligible your council must have paid your annual membership subscription fee, no exceptions. Please visit the Application Instructions and Helpful Hints Page (available August 1) first to assist your council in completing the awards applications.

Application Deadlines

The applications and AFLV Scholarship applications need to arrive in their indicated mailing points by 5:00pm EST on  January 11, 2010 for both the AFLV Central & the AFLV West Conferences. All other awards on this website are awards given out at the annual conferences, some sponsored by AFLV and some sponsored by other partner organizations. Each Award or Scholarship Application has its own instructions and individual deadline. Interested applicants should refer to each of those awards for exact details.
